Myrlo 2.0.3 is now live

Myrlo 2.0.3 brings an overhaul of Stories, Characters, Memory and a new Life system

Myrlo 2.0.3 is finally live! This is a near-complete overhaul of the app, with far too many changes to fit in one post, so I'll stick to the ones that matter most.

Scenes are now Lives

A Scene always meant one AI Character and a single Story. The idea was that you'd eventually start a new Story, or replay the old one with a different Character. In practice, players preferred long-running Scenes that stayed with one Character over time.

So Scenes are now Lives. You create a Persona, build out your starting situation and the Characters in your Circle, and play. The whole architecture is now designed around this longer-form way of playing. The new Circle and Showrunner systems mean you'll meet new Characters and run into new Stories as you go.

If you'd rather have a one-shot experience, you can still start a Life directly from a Story or a Character.

Creator tools

Players can now create their own Stories and Characters. There's more on that in this blog post.

Creations live in a shared World, connected by the Story Graph. There's also an AI assistant built into the app to help you build them out. The tools are still early, so feedback is very welcome.

Fragments

The old credit system is gone, and chat is now unlimited for everyone. Instead, you earn Fragments from daily play and challenges, and spend them on things like photo generation, driving chat, and the more advanced creator tools.

Over the next few months, Fragments will be woven more tightly into the platform, for customization, cosmetics, and Discord features. Premium players earn more Fragments from their daily bonus, but Fragments can't be bought with real money.

Myrlo on the web

Myrlo is now playable on the web, from your phone, tablet, or computer, and it's always running the latest version. It's still early, and there's room to improve the UI and UX, which will roll out over the coming weeks. If you'd rather not use Apple's subscriptions, web players can subscribe through Stripe.

Behind the scenes

There have been big infrastructure improvements too. Chat and photo generation are much faster, and responses now stream in instead of waiting for the full turn to finish. We've also improved the deployment process to cut downtime for major updates, and upgraded the database and vector stores.

Known issues

This update took a long time to get approved, so it's now more than a week behind. It has a few issues we've already fixed, and those fixes are waiting on review again. If something looks odd or throws an error, please report it. Just know that many of those things are already handled.
