Start here
Connect your account.
You’ll need a Myrlo account and an AI client that supports remote MCP connections with OAuth sign-in. Follow the Claude guide or Codex guide, then enable Myrlo in the conversation where you want to create.
You approve the permissions your AI requests. The connection can read available world context and work on content you own. Your account’s existing permissions still apply: world creation requires administrator access, and creating story library cards requires Premium.
Start in an existing world. Give your AI the world’s name or Myrlo link; ask it to find the setting and read its context before writing. You can browse worlds here.
Your first draft
Give it a direction, then a task.
- Choose the world. Include its name or link so your AI can find the right setting.
- Describe what matters. Say what you want to create, the tone, the core conflict, and any details you want preserved.
- Let it use Myrlo’s guidance. Ask it to read the current world context and authoring instructions. It can ask you about missing choices.
- Save and review. Ask it to save an unpublished draft, then open Myrlo to inspect the result.
Use Myrlo to help me create a character. First list the worlds available to me and ask which one to use. My idea is a retired lighthouse keeper who knows why ships keep disappearing. Read the chosen world’s context and current authoring guidance, ask me about important missing details, then save an unpublished draft. Do not generate images yet.
A useful brief gives direction without filling every field yourself. For example, “gentle mystery, conflicted loyalties, no supernatural explanation” is more useful than “make it interesting.”
What to create
One idea, several ways in.
A character with a place in the world
Turn a concept into a character with motives, relationships and a role in the setting.
Build a castA cast with something at stake
Create distinct characters whose loyalties, tensions and goals connect.
Create a storyA story ready for its first scene
Shape your notes into a scenario, with a setting, cast and an opening worth playing.
Refine a draftMake an existing draft stronger
Keep the parts you love while improving a character or story you already own.
For a cast, give each character a different reason to be involved. For a story, describe an opening situation the player can act on. The brief builder provides prompts for each workflow.
Refine existing work
Keep what you love.
Give your AI the exact draft name and world, and say which parts to change. Ask it to read the current draft first, preserve everything outside your request, and summarize what it saved.
Use Myrlo to find my character [character name] in [world]. If several drafts match, ask which one. Read the current draft, then strengthen their motive and opening behavior while preserving their appearance, background and existing relationships. Save the changes and summarize them. Do not generate images or publish.
If you edited the draft in Myrlo while your AI was working, it may need to reload the latest version before saving. Tell it to refresh and preserve your latest edits.
Portraits & images
Give the draft a face.
Once the writing and appearance are settled, ask your AI to generate the portrait slots you want. It can also generate a world cover or a story thumbnail for content you’re allowed to edit.
Use Myrlo to find my character [character name] in [world] and read their current appearance. Generate the [female / male / both] portrait slots to match that appearance. Wait for the image jobs, show me the previews, and let me choose whether to accept or decline each result. If my fragments are insufficient, stop and tell me the required cost and available balance.
Fragments cover generation.
Eligible first generations are free. Subsequent generations cost 10 fragments per slot; a paid female-and-male pair costs 20. Myrlo checks the complete cost before starting a generation request. If you can’t afford it, no image jobs start and your balance is unchanged.
Accepting or declining adds no charge. Declining a successfully generated image does not refund its generation cost. A terminal failed slot releases its reserved fragments.
Generating images takes time. Ask your AI to check the existing job if it loses track; repeating the same request should reuse the original receipt. Resolve pending previews before requesting replacements.
Review & publish
Your creation. Your final say.
Your AI saves drafts and revisions to your account. Open Myrlo, find the character or story, and check its fields, cast and library details. Ask for another focused revision or make edits directly in Myrlo.
Publishing and playing happen in Myrlo. The authoring connection doesn’t publish, delete content or play scenes on your behalf. Text authoring through MCP doesn’t spend Myrlo Inspiration; your AI client’s own usage limits and pricing still apply.
When you’re done, you can revoke the connection in Settings → Connected apps. Disconnecting blocks future access; image jobs already running still finish and settle their fragment costs.
Open MyrloTroubleshooting
Get back to creating.
My AI doesn’t show Myrlo’s tools.
Check that the connector is enabled for this conversation and uses https://myrlo.app/mcp. Complete the browser sign-in. In Codex, use codex mcp list or /mcp to inspect the connection. Refresh or restart your client after changing its configuration.
Claude can’t complete the connection.
Choose Register automatically under OAuth client when adding the custom connector, then sign in again. In a team workspace, ask the workspace owner to add Myrlo. Custom connector availability depends on your client and workspace settings.
The connection expired or I signed into the wrong account.
Disconnect Myrlo in your AI client and connect again with the correct Myrlo account. For Codex, run codex mcp login myrlo again. You can review or revoke existing grants in Myrlo’s Connected apps settings.
I can’t edit the content or create a library card.
Your AI uses your account’s existing permissions. It can edit content you own. World authoring requires administrator access; creating story library cards requires Premium. Ask it to find your own draft or choose a task available to your account.
An image is still pending or failed.
Ask your AI to check the existing image job and show any available previews. Accept or decline pending previews before starting replacements. If a request is recovering, retry that same request rather than starting another generation.
I’m using a different AI client.
Use the same server URL above with Streamable HTTP and OAuth sign-in. The client needs to support remote MCP authorization and client registration. Authentication reference and agent skills are available for advanced setup.
Still stuck? Contact Myrlo with the client you’re using and the error message. Don’t share sign-in codes or access tokens.
